Last week, Google officially launched its first and one of the most anticipated watches of the year – the Pixel Watch. The watch comes in with wearOS 3.5 which is the complete stock version of the latest wearOS software. Just like the other Pixel products, the Pixel Watch will also receive major OS upgrades in the future, but did you know how many updates will Google Pixel Watch get?

Google didn’t mention anything about software updates on the Pixel Watch product page, but not the company has created a new support page related to the Pixel Watch updates. And as per the information available on the support page, the Pixel Watch will get at least three years of updates from when the device first became available on the Google Store in the US, which means it will get the updates till October 2025.
The company mentions that “the watch will receive regular software updates that include security enhancements, new features, operating system updates, bug fixes, and more.” However, the wearOS 3.5 is based on Android 11 and the older version was based on Android 9, so we can expect the future release to be based on Android 13, the naming and other details for upcoming wearOS is not available yet, but it will be available for Pixel Watch definitely.
Comparing Google’s Pixel Watch software update policy to the Samsung Galaxy Watch software update policy, then Samsung is offering more upgrades compared to the Pixel Watch. The South Korean tech giant confirmed four years of One UI and wearOS updates for Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5. Yes, the new Galaxy Watch 5 will receive updates till 2026, whereas, the Pixel Watch will get updates till October 2025. Speaking about the Apple Watch updates policy, then Apple provides at least five years of updates after launch.
Although, Pixel Watch users can expect major wearOS software upgrade releases faster than Samsung’s One UI based wearOS updates for the Galaxy Watch.
