Skagen Falster Gen 6 is the latest Smartwatch to get Wear OS 3

More Google powered watches are joining the Wear OS 3 list. The latest smartphone to get Wear OS 3 is Fossilโ€™s Skagen Falster Gen 6. Other Fossil Gen 6 watches are already running Wear OS 3. And finally, Skagen Falster Gen 6 users can also experience Wear OS 3.

The use of Google based smartwatches has increased since the launch of Wear OS 3. Wear OS 3 comes with several improvements that take the smartwatch experience to the next level. This makes the use of the smartwatch easy and very useful. Smartwatches can function as a standalone and hence are useful even when you do not carry your phone with you.

Skagen is a subsidiary of Fossil and like other Fossil watches, this Gen 6 watch also runs on Wear OS. And the latest version of Wear OS for Falster Gen 6 is here. Unlike many Wear OS devices, the Falster Gen 6 is compatible with iOS, and the same is true even after the Wear OS 3 update.

Skagen Falster Gen 6 is making a number of improvements with the new Wear OS 3. The update hasn’t been officially announced, but some users on Reddit have reportedly received the update. The Wear OS 3 update brings the watch’s interface closer to stock and Alexa support.

However, all is not well with the update. This removes Google Assitant from Falster Gen 6 as it is not supported on Snapdragon powered watches with Wear OS 3. Fossil is working with Google to bring Google Assistant support soon. Also, the update removes four watch faces and now there are only eight left on the watch.

The Wear OS 3 update is rolling out widely to Falster Gen 6 users. This update is not easy to install as it requires a factory reset. The Update notification includes instructions on how to update the watch. Since installing the Wear OS 3 update will result in data wipe, Gen 6 owners need to back up important data before the update.

Also, after the reset and update, users will need to pair the watch with the new Skagen smartwatch app. The process is similar to the Fossil smartwatch app.

If you donโ€™t see the update on your Smartwatch, go to Settings > System > About > System updates. If you donโ€™t see the update, tap the page multiple times. If it still doesnโ€™t work, wait for a few days and try again.
