Last August, Fitbit adds three wearables to its portfolio, the new devices include two new smartwatches Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2 as well as Fitbit Inspire 3 wireless band. All three watches come with new features, better sensors, and other improvements. Since Fitbit is now Google’s subsidiary everyone is expecting the new Fitbit watches come with wearOS on board, but it didn’t happen at least with Fitbit Versa and Sense 2. Both watches run on Fitbit OS, the same operating system available on the older Fitbit watches.

Fitbit launches the new Versa 4 smartwatch and Sense 2 smartwatch with a bunch of UI changes, opted some Material You elements from wearOS, more rounded corners for elements, and some other refinements. Fitbit even announced that they have plans to bring Google Maps and Google Wallet support to the new watches, along with the Google Assistant support for the predecessors – Fitbit Versa 3 and Fitbit Sene (1st-gen), so people assume that Google Assistant would also be made available for the new watches.
Last month, Fitbit released a new software update for Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2 smartwatch with support for Google Maps and Google Wallet apps, but the company didn’t mention anything about Google Assistant.
Can I use Google Assistant on Fitbit Versa 4 or Fitbit Sense 2?
Sadly, Fitbit has no plans to bring Google Assistant support to the new watches – Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2. The company has now officially confirmed that there are no plans to add Google Assistant support to new watches.
In a response to the user’s query on the Fitbit Support forum, the Fitbit Moderator said, “Thanks for your interest in our new Sense 2, and your feedback about its features. In regards to the voice assistant, let me share currently there are no plans to deploy Google Assistant on Sense 2 or Versa 4. I understand how much you’d like to have this feature available and we look forward to bringing this feature to future devices. At the time of writing, the Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2 users can use Alexa Virtual Assistant, you can activate Alexa on your Fitbit smartwatch by pressing the side button for a couple of seconds. If you are doing it for the first time, then you can follow the on-screen prompts to set it up. Else, you can ask Alexa whatever you want, here’s an example, “Alexa, will it rain today?” or “Alexa, what’s the weather like?”.

I’ve been through buyouts with major tech companies. I understand the space Google is in. Even though you can add some new features like Google wallet Google maps, you’re mostly stuck with what’s currently offered on the old products.
Very disappointed. I upgraded from inspire 2 to versa 4 particularly as a safety feature I live alone and wanted to be able to call her help from wrist. The versa 4 does nothing significant that the much less expense insure 2 does
