How to Enable Emergency SOS and Fall Detection on Pixel Watch

One of the most useful features available on smartwatches is the Emergency SOS. And the newly announced Pixel Watch also comes with the Emergency SOS feature, here’s how you can set up and use emergency SOS and Fall Detection on Pixel Watch.

Emergency SOS comes in handy in emergency situations which can happen anytime anywhere, so it is important for being prepared for such circumstances. Activating the feature will instantly place a call to the emergency services available in your area. Pixel Watch owners can easily activate or trigger Emergency SOS by pressing the crown 5 times quickly.

Apart from the Emergency SOS, Pixel Watch has Fall Detection, which will automatically get triggered when a hard fall is detected. Fall Detection isn’t available yet, but it will be available later this winter.

The SOS feature is available in all regions where Pixel Watch is available, instead, the automatic dialing isn’t available in Australia and Germany.

How to set up Emergency SOS on Pixel Watch

Pixel Watch owners can easily enable and use emergency SOS on their watch, yes, there’s no need to install any third-party app or update the software, you can easily set it up on your watch. Here’s how you can do it on your watch.

Activate Emergency SOS directly from the Pixel Watch:

  1. On your Google Pixel Watch, swipe down for quick settings.
  2. Select Settings, then tap on Safety & Emergency.
  3. Now choose Emergency SOS, then turn on emergency gesture, alarm, and selecting a primary contact.
  4. That’s it.

Activate Emergency SOS from the Pixel Watch app:

  1. Install the Pixel Watch app, if not available on your phone.
  2. Open the Pixel Watch app, then tap Watch Preferences.
  3. Select Safety & Emergency, then Emergency SOS, now turn on the Safety Features.
  4. That’s it.

Now, whenever you are in an emergency situation your watch will automatically make a call to the emergency services in your area. But you can also add family or friends’ contact to the emergency SOS, here’s how you can add multiple contact numbers to the Emergency SOS on Pixel Watch.

How to Add Emergency Contacts to Pixel Watch

If you want to add your family member or friend to the emergency contacts list, then you can follow these steps and add to your Pixel Watch.

  1. Open the Settings on your Pixel Watch.
  2. Scroll down a bit then tap Safety & Emergency > then Emergency SOS.
  3. Select Add Contact, grant permission to access contacts from your phone.
  4. Now choose the contact you want to add to the Emergency Contacts.
  5. Once done, choose a primary contact, by tapping the contact in the list.
  6. That’s it.

If you want to remove the contact in the future, then you can do the same by navigating to Safety & Emergency settings and then tapping the edit icon.

How to use Emergency SOS on Pixel Watch

If you are a proud Pixel Watch owner and are in an emergency, then you can contact the emergency services or contact your family or friend, then you can trigger the SOS functionality by pressing the crown 5 times quickly. A standard call is placed, make sure that your watch is in range of your phone and connected to Bluetooth, if you own the LTE variant then you can directly make a call and talk to the emergency responder.

If for some reason you want to turn off the SOS feature, then you can do it by navigating to Personal Safety, then Emergency SOS.
